OurMX-5 Owners Club Manifesto – March 2025

The MX Club is a non-profit organisation, by law.

The Members all have equal say and are the true custodians of the Club.

The positions of the Committee are elected by the members at the annual AGM.

On behalf of our members, we do everything we can to comply with the Law.

The Committee consists of representatives of the Members who execute their duties voluntarily according to the constitution.

Not a single Committee Member gets any payment for executing their duties.

Administration of a National Database of all MX-5 in South Africa. We are almost 250 MX-5s strong!

What do we use our funds for?

SAMCA Membership.

Administrative costs (Bank Charges).

Website hosting costs (Development is free thanks to Kelvin) worth 10’s of thousands of Rands.

Costs towards Club events: Police escort costs.

The odd small and appropriate gifts/prizes.

If there is money over, we try our best to give the members value back such as contribution to End-Year Function, as much as we can afford.

What Value does the Club provide for Paid Members?

The best (un)Car Club in the World.

Membership Certificates with Discs.

Arranging monthly Runs.

Arranging annual Weekend away.

Attendance to SAMCA Events.

Angela’s Picnic.

Cars in the Park (with Police escort).

Website and club admin back end

Classic Car Valuations (the best in the Country – value = R1500).

Access to SAMCA Classic Car insurance.

Regalia (online system in progress, we are now a National Club).

What do we need from you?

Your opinion.

Your company.

Your participation (especially with regard to appointment of Committee Members).

Your energy.

The Committee may appoint additional Members to assist with specific projects or needs to serve the Club better. The current Committee (most of them) has been serving for 3 years. We are worried that the Club will get stale and want new people with new ideas so the club can stay relevant for the members…

Club Culture

The MX-5 Owners Club SA promotes the values of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion to improve the experience for all our club members.

We pledge that the club will promote a spirit of camaraderie where we celebrate our shared love for the MX-5 and the joy it brings us to drive this spectacular car.

No other vehicle displays body contours, superior handling and precision of movement with the nimbleness of the MX-5! Drop the top under our beautiful African skies and it pure exhilaration!

All members have one thing in common - our enjoyment of owning and driving a Mazda MX-5 and that is what connects us all to the Mazda design philosophy -“Jinba ittai” - the connection between you and your MX-5 is like a horse and rider: the ultimate sense of oneness! This oneness is the ethos that binds the members of the MX-5 club. Our shared connection to the MX-5, its brand philosophy and each other will help our club sustain and grow as we Zoom Zoom into the future!
