Comprehensive cover

Indwe offers comprehensive coverage through Vantage, a specialist insurance product underwritten by Santam. This covers your classic car for all major incidents, such as theft or break-in, accidents, fire-related damage, and damage and injuries to another vehicle, person, or property. This policy can be extended to include new vehicles and household items.

Third-party only OR third-party, fire, and theft.

Classic car owners have the option to select cover for third-party, whereby only damages or injuries to another vehicle or person are insured, or to secure cover for third-party, fire and theft cover, which excludes damages that you may cause to your own vehicle.

Laid-up cover.This is a tailored insurance solution exclusively for vintage or classic cars, providing customised cover for when the vehicle is being restored and risks are significantly minimised.

We understand the collector’s needs

Through Vantage, Indwe’s bespoke classic car policy offers the following important features:

Agreed values to all vehicles insured - valuations by the relevant club or any appropriate third-party specialist are accepted.

Treasured remains - in the event of a total loss, the insured has the first choice of retaining the salvage at a negotiated amount, depending on the individual loss.

Generous mileage - 8300 km of private travel per year (5000 miles) are allowed, excluding distances travelled in attendance of special classic tour events.

Unlimited mileage option - available on request at a nominal fee.

Cover for private occasions - private-use cover permits usage for events such as weddings or matric dances on the condition that the vehicle is not commercially hired out.

Cash-in-lieu of repairs - claims may be settled on a cash-in-lieu of repairs basis, to allow the policyholder to arrange repairs with people they trust.

Competitive premiums for large collections - large classic car collections qualify for various discounts, depending on the size and type of such collections.

Parts away clause - the policy allows up to a third of the vehicle value to be attended to away from the risk address.

Family members included as drivers - unless stipulated by Vantage, all direct family members with a valid driver’s license may be registered on the policy as drivers.

Roadside Assistance - available on request at a nominal fee. (Recommended additional cover)

Territorial limits - the policy includes cover for use within the borders of South Africa and all neighbouring countries (the latter for a maximum of 30 days).

Competitive premiums - payable annually or monthly.

Windscreen cover - Up to R 30 000.00.

Lock and key cover - Up to R 10 000.00.

Radio and equipment - Up to R 6 000.00.

Does your classic car qualify for Vantage cover?

The vehicle must be 20 years and older or qualify as a Collectable Classic at the discretion of the Insurers. All MX-5s currently qualify.

A fire extinguisher (minimum 1.5kg) must be kept in the cabin of the vehicle. Includes the boot in the case of MX-5s.

The evaluator must complete and sign or stamp the vehicle valuation. Our Club Valuation system has been specifically approved.

We consider all valuations not older than 2 years conducted by a reputable source – including club evaluators.

If the valuation certificate is older than 2 years, insurers will revert to the market value of that specific vehicle.

We cover retro-classic vehicles – newer versions of famous historical models such as the AC Cobra.

Cover excludes competitive racing or time trials involving speeding or speeding groups. Our Closed Club Regularity Rally events are not affected by this exclusion.

The Vantage System is not designed for owners who use their vehicles every day and who are likely to exceed 8500 km per year. Indwe will have more appropriate products for this type of usage.

ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE (IF SELECTED in addition to Standard))

If you have selected the Roadside Assist cover, you have access to the following services in the event of a roadside 
emergency (limited to up to R500 per incident):
• Flat battery – jump start only (replacement of battery for the member’s account)
• Flat tyre (help with change of tyre)
• Keys locked in vehicle (unlocking only)
• Fuel assistance (limited to five litres per incident)
• Transmitting of urgent messages on your behalf


TOW-IN
Tow-in service to the nearest approved dealership (if under warranty), repair centre or panel beater in the event of:
• Mechanical breakdown – covered up to 40km round trip
• Electrical breakdown – covered up to 40km round trip
• Accident damage – covered uo to 40km round trip. Anything over and above 40km will require authorisation from the 
Insurer.


COURTESY TRANSPORT
Where your vehicle needs to be towed to a repairer, we will arrange for the occupants of your vehicle (up to a maximum of 
two persons) to be transported to a nominated destination where the breakdown has occurred within a 40 km radius of your 
normal place of residence.


HOTEL ACCOMMODATION
Where the breakdown has occurred outside a radius of 100 km from your normal place of residence, resulting in an 
overnight delay, we will arrange hotel accommodation for the occupants of your vehicle (up to a maximum of four people). A 
contribution of R700 will be provided to client for the cost of accommodation.


CAR RENTAL
If the circumstances of the problem entitles you to the hotel accommodation benefit but you would prefer to continue with 
your journey immediately, we will arrange for a rental car to enable you to reach your destination, subject to you qualifying for 
a rental vehicle in terms of the car rental company’s general terms and conditions.
The cost incurred will be confined to rental charges, delivery and collection of the hire vehicle and the car must be 
surrendered on arrival at your destination. A contribution of R700 will be provided to client for the cost of accommodation.


VEHICLE REPATRIATION
In the event of your vehicle being left for repairs, we will pay up to R500 for a 24-hour, Group B car rental or a flight ticket to 
collect the vehicle after repairs. Alternatively, should your vehicle have been towed to a dealership closer to your place of 
residence, we will supplement the additional tow costs with costs of car rental.
 


OVERALL LIMIT OF 2 INCIDENTS PER CATEGORY
Please note: This cover excludes all vehicles over 3 500kg. You will not be entitled to service where the vehicle is not in 
a roadworthy condition. Any costs incurred through arrangements made by you without prior authorisation will not be 
reimbursed. Assistance is only available in South Africa, Lesotho and Kingdom of Eswatini (previously Swaziland).


EMERGENCY SERVICES NOTIFICATION AND CALL OUT
We will, at your request, relay notification of emergencies to the police, traffic, fire brigade, ambulance, security or any other 
emergency service provider.
