We’ve reached the end of the year; I’m still reeling at how fast it’s gone

Unfortunately, there is now a few administrative activities that requires action: Notification has already gone out about the 2023 Club Fees that are due.

The club fees used to be R500-00, but at the start of this year, the 2021 Committee agreed during the AGM in March 2022 to a lowered Club Fee of R250-00 for 2022, this was to support the rebuilding of the club. The 2022 Committee has since the Special AGM in May that year, worked extremely hard to connect with all MX5 owners and enthusiasts and we have made great strides in this regard.

With the growth of the club and the addition of multiple benefits (please refer to the “New 2023 Membership Form” on our website for the breakdown), the requirements and expectations changed. What was previously possible, is no longer practical. To ensure ongoing good service and continuous increase value for money, we both need to go back to the higher Club Fee to cover these expenses, of which many was privately funded this year, and extend a call to all our members to volunteer for or nominate the 2023 Committee.

Please complete and return the Nomination/Volunteer forms for the 2023 Committee. A meeting invite is accompanying the application form and highlight a few identified activities to be covered by the 2023 Committee. For those members that might not be able to attend, a Proxy Form is also available should you wish for someone else to vote on your behalf.

The AGM will be held at the PISTON RING, EDENVALE, on the morning of Sunday the 25th of March 2023.

This year didn’t pass without its ups and downs and we’re ending the year with Anton Lindhout, one of our Technical Experts, resigning as Committee Member. We would like to thank Anton for his contribution this year and trust that they will still be joining us on our runs.

We also received the sad news during January about Gert vd Berg and our love and support goes out to his loved ones.

2023 also saw a couple of amazing runs!! We were invited to the SAMCA Annual Run to the most beautiful, largest garden restaurant in South Africa, Stonehaven on Vaal. A true photographer and garden lover heaven! Not to forget our most recent run out to Kitty Hawk Airport.

For 2023 there is already a line-up of monthly runs, every first Sunday of the month – bookmark the dates; a MX5 TSD Rally interest group has been created; Angela’s Picnic on the 2nd of April at Riversands Farm; Cars in the Park KZN weekend away end of May is in discussion; Japan Day 7th of May and then we had an overwhelming response to action another Sabie Rally weekend away . . .
